The April festival will bring thousands of people to San Gabriel Park, along with traffic changes, facility closures, and a lot more planning for nearby residents.

Two Step Inn returns to Georgetown on April 18 and 19, and the city is already warning residents to expect major traffic and access impacts around San Gabriel Park. Georgetown officials say festival setup begins April 7 and continues through April 24, with changing road closures, lane restrictions, and facility impacts throughout that stretch.

The city has posted an interactive map and a dedicated FAQ to help residents track the shifting closure schedule. Officials say Google Maps and Waze are being updated to reflect the changes, but they are still encouraging people to check city information before heading toward the area.

Several nearby public facilities will also be affected. The Georgetown Recreation Center will close from the evening of April 17 through early April 20, and the city says it will not be used as event parking. The city also flagged impacts to the McMaster Athletic Complex, parts of the San Gabriel Park area, and related city and county operations near the festival footprint.

The practical message from the city is simple. Plan ahead. Do not assume your usual route will be available, and do not assume neighborhood streets around the park are a backup plan. Georgetown’s festival FAQ says there is no event parking in the neighborhoods surrounding the park and warns that violations can lead to significant fines during special events.

For people going to the show, Two Step Inn is one of the biggest things on Georgetown’s event calendar. For people not going, it is still one of the biggest things on the calendar because of how much of the surrounding area it touches. That is the reality of hosting a major festival in the middle of a growing city. It brings attention and energy, but it also requires residents to work around it.

If you live nearby, the best move is to check the city’s map early, not the morning you need to leave.
